Hello everybody! With under a month to go until Christmas (very exciting!) I have been tailoring my baking to have a festive 'vibe' if you will, so today I am bringing you my version of Christmas tree brownie bars which I rustled up over the weekend. Made in the same way you bake any brownie, Christmas or not, they suddenly have taken on the Christmas cheer as they are divided into triangular "trees" and decorated like so. Whatever the time of year, chocolate brownies seem to be a universally approved recipe, so if you're looking to embark upon a mini-baking project this winter, these are a sure winner.
Recipe and "How To":
1. On the lowest possible heat, combine the chocolate (broke into pieces) and the butter until they resemble a silky smooth mix. Remove from the heat.
2. In the mixing bowl, put the sugar and eggs together and whisk with the electric whsik until the mixture is light and foamy.
3. To the sugar and eggs, carefully add the chocolate mix and vanilla extract and fold together with the wooden spoon.
4. Sieve in the cocoa powder, baking powder and flour, then mix. The mixture should be fudgy in consistency.
5. Into the baking parchment lined baking tray, spoon on the brownie mixture and level with the back of a spoon.
6. Place into a preheated oven at 180 degrees centigrade for between 20 - 30 minutes and then remove and allow to completely cool (if you can wait that long!)
7. Cut into even sized triangles and then decorate however you wish! I went for dots which look like fairy lights on the tree and streamer style wavy lines.
