Dreaming of Summer Holidays

Is it just me or is 2018 literally flying by so far? Now that we have reached April, it seems only right that we can start getting excited for the summer ahead, don't you think?! So with that in mind, I've been looking back at some of my summer 2017 summer snap shots from Cyprus which was where I visited last year for a Mediterranean getaway. If you have ever been to Cyprus, then you will already know that it is an island famed for its truly sublime weather and amazing golden, sandy beaches. Summertime bliss for sure. If you haven't had the chance to read them yet, you can check out my travel inspiration posts on the holiday. I wrote one about the best beaches in Cyprus and another on the cultural side of Ayia Napa (yes there really is one!) which you can check out too.

Being on holiday is great. It's an opportunity to step out of your day-to-day routine and enter a completely different place, with a different culture and way of life and really immerse yourself in the whole experience. I go and visit some of my family whilst I am out in Cyprus too as they live out there and it makes for a lovely, well rounded trip away I find.

I wanted to find a few ways to bring that summer holiday feeling into my day-to-day life so that I can always have that fun vacation vibe and here are a few ways which I am endeavouring to do just that this year.

1. Start Getting Holiday Clothes Early
Probably the easiest and one of the most enjoyable ways to get into the holiday swing of things is to start getting your holiday capsule wardrobe sorted out and stash it is a designated part of your wardrobe. Not only is this great fun and helps you to actually realise that you'll be jetting off really quite soon when you think about it, it also prevents that last minute panic rush of buying random clothes and stuffing them all into your suitcase the night before travel! Plus being oh so organised gives you a great opportunity to mix and match potential outfits and see what works well together. I always find that I take a few things too many, which doesn't really matter but having a capsule wardrobe makes everything much more convenient and lighter when traveling.

2. Build a permanent barbeque pit in the back garden
Okay so we want to keep those holiday vibes going even when we're back home in the UK, so what better way to do so than by flexing those DIY skills and building yourself a barbeque pit like one of those you see on an American beach, worthy of a hipster aesthetic Instagram feed?! Obviously this should be built with care and caution, and not if there are small children or pets nearby. To build such a creation, you will need all of the material essentials like bricks and cinder boxes to name a couple. The extensive list of equipment will be available to purchase from large hardware stores. LPG storage tanks can provide the gas fuel to get the barbeque going too! Once it's all built, you will be able to barbeque to your heart's content and enjoy blissful outdoor dining with friends and family all through the summer months!

3. Create a summer music playlist
If you want to feel instantly in the summer mood, the fastest way to do so is by popping on some banging summer tunes! You can't help but feel summery when you're listening to 'We're Going To Ibiza' can you?! Used as your summer gym playlist or for general grooving purposes, having some fun tropical house mixed with some old-school summer classics is a recipe for feeling truly summer ready!

What helps you feel ready for summer holidays? Have you got a go-to track that instantly makes you think 'now it's summer!'? Let me know! Bilgi   x
