On Thursday last week I attended the totally sublime Seaham Hall Serenity Spa to experience their incredible facilities and also for my guest (the gem that is my Mum) to have an 'In Good Spirits' energising full body massage treatment, which is one of the three new holistic Temple Spa body treatments which has been introduced at Seaham Hall this summer. Our spa day started with a refreshing glass of watermelon and strawberry iced water and after completing a short spa form, we were escorted to the changing areas so we could enrobe ourselves in the white fluffy gowns and flip flops and get the day underway. I have had a busy time over the last month so I was very much looking forward to relaxing and recharging poolside, reading my book and also having a dip in all the heated pools and outdoor hot tubs! Some of life's luxuries and a perfect way to spend a Thursday before our approaching summer holiday!
Enjoying the bubbles in the outdoor hot tub!
Seaham Hall's Serenity Spa is home to a fabulous thermal heat suite so there really is something which everyone will enjoy about this spa. From the heated indoor pool (which actually feels like stepping into a bath, truly amazing and oh so relaxing!) to the Hammam with it's own snail showers (individual circular showering units), Sauna with quartz crystal, sanarium with crystal light therapy, black granite steam room with amethyst crystal, hot tubs, ice baths and ice fountain (for those who are brave enough!), Jacuzzi, footbaths and gym. All you could wish for from a spa. I have visited Seaham Hall's Serenity Spa once before - you can read about my first trip there here if you'd like to - and this occasion was just as tranquil.
We had lunch in the Serenity Spa's very own Pan-Asian restaurant The Ozone. Serving all kinds of Asian culinary delights, I opted for a chicken Chow Mein and a trio of ice creams for dessert and my Mum went for the Pad Thai noodles with chicken and Tofu (best of both worlds!) and the Lych Fruit Tart (like a custard type tart) with Amaretto cream. I also had a glass of Pinot Grigio wine (perfect way to start the afternoon!) and my Mum (the designated driver!) went for a delightful fruity assortment of a non-alcoholic cranberry cooler. We looked out over the Serenity Spa gardens and enjoyed a starter of prawn crackers and sweet chilli dip as we chatted about the day and our plans for the bank holiday weekend.

My Mum then went for her treatment and I went back to the poolside to continue the relaxation solo until she returned! She is always so hard working and we all know how important it is to take some 'me time' and actually allow yourself to realign your equilibrium and feel centred again, so I thought the treatment would be perfect for her to do exactly that. The 'In Good Spirits' full body massage used the 'In Good Spirits' massage oil from Temple Spa, which is a delicate blend of Mediterranean essential oils including ginger, lemon and bergamot which are able to stimulate and refresh the skin, body and soul, their 'Ahh Balm' which has soothing properties and the 'Spiritude' room spray which naturally sets a calming vibe to a room and helps make relaxation even easier. She also had the 'Eyes Wide Open' soothing eye lotion applied because as a hay fever sufferer, it helps to ease the irritation caused by pollen. The purpose of the 'In Good Spirits' massage is to essentially leave you full of vitality and with the use of specific massage movements which help to promote healthy circulation, this massage leaves you feeling full of life and totally rejuvenated. After her massage with Mia, my Mum said:-
"I felt truly invigorated and in a good mood after it too! The 'In Good Spirits' massage did exactly that!' - Jean
