The summer is definitely the time to go explore and try new things, and last week that is exactly what I did when I was in London. Instead of heading straight to the west end shops, I instead went to Camden Lock for a taste of cultural diversity and to see a more alternative side of the city.
The market is a buzz of energy and there is every type of
cuisine you can imagine. Down one of the streets, a few seconds from the hustle
and bustle of the stalls modestly stands Chin Chin Laboratories.
Sounds scientific and it is. What do they do I hear you wonder. The answer... Nitro frozen ice cream which they make right before your very eyes in their freezing machines. Think Heston Blumenthal, meets Willy Wonka and they go to a dairy farm, and you've got the right idea. Forget waiting for 5 hours for your ice cream to set in a fridge-freezer in the middle of a field as they do on the Great British Bake Off, no no, this ice cream goes from concept to creation in mere minutes from when you place your order.

To keep things current and exciting, their menu changes on a weekly
basis, with a few new quirky flavour combinations like Purple Basil Choc. Chip,
along with classic favourites like Pondicherry vanilla and
Valrhona chocolate, so there's something to meet everybody's ice cream cravings. You can
also choose dairy-free sorbet in flavour combinations like Rhubarb Lemonade if you're in a zingy/fruity mood. To make your
iced delight even more decadent, there
are an array of uber delicious toppings and sauces for you to choose from.
Toppings included pistachio and cardamom powder, caramalized pretzels, hazelnut crunch and heather honeycomb and as for the sauces you can select from chocolate, fleur de sel caramel or raspberry coulis
sauce. (Each topping is an additional 55p. Well worth it.)
(My order: Chocolate ice cream, truffle crumble and Valrohna chocolate sauce)

In keeping with the scientific vibe, the frozen goodness is served with 5ml medicine spoons. Needless to say, you will definitely be getting your daily dose of happiness here! (If the ice cream wasn't sweet enough, the cute guy with the blue eyes will sure make up for that!)
Chin Chin Lab. is an ice cream emporium which you just
have to visit if you get the chance. From their inspired flavours and fun way
of making their ices, to the trendy surroundings, if ever there was a place
that has it all and will have you going back for more, it's this one.
Chin Chin Labs is open every day from 12 - 7pm.
49- 50 Camden Lock Place, NW1 8AF, London.
