The Statement Saddle Bag from Glencroft Countrywear

As Autumn has got fully underway and our wardrobes are undergoing their seasonal rotation, there are a few essentials which I feel are necessary in order to transition your style from the summer months into the oh so frosty, cooler seasons of Autumn and Winter. As we approach the end of the year and the leaves change colour and scatter their warm tones all around us, I like my style to reflect this seasonal pallet. I have always loved the classic and quintessential chicness of an authentic tan bag and Glencroft Countrywear, a fabulous British country clothing and accessories brand based in the Yorkshire Dales National Park make exactly that, amongst many other exquisite garments and accessories.

The brand was first established in 1987 by Richard and Justina Sexton and is now run by son Edward Sexton and their garments and accessories are produced using natural fibres. Glencroft are highly esteemed for producing top quality products which are not only sustainable but also timelessly fashionable and perfect for those who love a refined rural aesthetic.

Taking Inspiration from the land around them
Glencroft Countrywear take their design inspiration from the picturesque rural idyll in which their 300 year old converted cow barn and workshop are situated. The stunning natural surroundings serve as a creative starting point and have informed the designs of their Yorkshire style flat caps (very Peaky Blinders) and chunky knitted, warm wool jumpers alike. It's not hard to see why such a stunning setting serves to influence fashion design. With its calm open countryside that rolls out for miles and is utterly picture perfect whatever the season, it is truly a place of exquisite natural beauty that effortlessly inspires.

Glencroft's Philosophy
They uphold the fact that nothing about their brand's ethos and philosophy has changed since they started over 30 years ago. They source high quality materials to create their timeless pieces. As they say in Yorkshire, they make 'proper' quality clothing and accessories.

They help to keep their business truly local by continuing to work with some of the last few remaining woollen mills in the North of England as well.

Into the Pumpkin Patch
I have always loved tan bags as they have the versatility to work well with outfits whatever the season and look sophisticated, classic and universally fashionable. For the Autumn and Winter months, I will be styling up my Glencroft Countrywear Saddle Bag with my staple seasonal outfits including black high-waisted skinny jeans, long plaid scarves, winter knit jumpers and heeled ankle boots. Due to the classic 'antique-esque', country nature of this bag, with it's sleek finish and matching thread work, it will also look perfect with a pair of narrative-style Brogues (heeled or flat depending upon the occasion and what the weather permits for fashion on the given day!).

The Accessory of the Season
If you like to be armed with the facts about the clothes and accessories you select, then let me tell you a bit about this beautiful bag in case you are tempted to invest in it for yourself. It is a genuine leather crossbody handbag with an easily adjustable strap so it can be whatever length you require depending upon the overall aesthetic you are aiming to achieve for an outfit or occasion. (With fashion, it's often small adjustments and attention to finer details that make a big impact I believe.)

Style and substance is what you are guaranteed with this dreamy number, as it is versatile, practical for holding your belongings and fastens securely with a magnetic button at the front. It maintains a classically fashionable look with the thread detailing which finishes the bag in the same colour as the leather. In true Yorkshire style, each handcrafted bag also comes with its very own sheepy drawstring bag that Glencroft has made in-house by their employee Rose, to prevent any scratches in transit. Depending upon your overall requirements, the saddle bags (which are available in a few beautiful neutral tones including brown, tan, black, deep green or navy) come in 8 inch (£54.99) or 9 inch (£59.95) width.
