Bilgi Bakes | Pink Cinnamon, Pecan & Chocolate Rolls


I find that on an afternoon where I can relax and indulge myself in some all important 'me time' I do love to bake, and on the most recent occasion I made cinnamon rolls, decadently enriched with white and milk chocolate chips, pecan nuts and because I'm all about making things a bit more razzle dazzle, I also made them pink! If you fancy whipping these up, the recipe I used and the how to is below.


Ingredients
450g strong white flour
1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
4 table spoons of butter, chopped
50g caster sugar
1 sachet of easy blend dried yeast
1 Free Range or Organic egg
half a cup of water, warm
60ml milk
pink food colour

For the Filling
40g unsalted butter, melted
50g light muscovado sugar
75g pecans
100g milk chocolate chips
100g white chocolate chips

How To Bake:
1. Grease a baking tin or line with brown baking paper. Sift the flour and cinnamon into a bowl, then rub in butter.

2. Stir in the sugar and yeast. In a jug, beat together the egg with water and milk, then add to the dry ingredients to make a soft dough.

3. Add the pink colour. Kneed until smooth. Roll out too about 40 x 30 cm and brush with melted butter.

4. Sprinkle with muscovado sugar, choc chips, pecan.

5. Roll up the dough from the long side like a Swiss roll. Then cut into even size slices. About 12 should be made.

6. Pack the slices close in the tin and leave to prove for 1 1/2 hours. Then they should be well risen and springy.

7. Bake for 25-30 mins at 200-220 decrees centigrade. Remove from tray and add to a wire rack before decorating the top if you'd like with some white chocolate also made pink with some food colour.

8. Serve up with tea of your choice and enjoy!
